Volkswagen Bay Window 1974 “Calypso”
Here we have a gorgeous Devon camper affectionately named “Calypso”
She has had a full engine rebuild back in 2010, They bored it out to a 1641cc to give a bit more power and better performance. It has had an unleaded head conversion so she can run on standard unleaded petrol too without adding additive. With receipts of over £2000. At that time the clutch was replaced, a new alternator and fan belt.
She starts up with ease, and drives very well. Not a race winner as we all know but she happily cruises along and you can’t help but smile when you drive this beauty.
She is equipped with a Devon conversion. It has a lovely “Straight up” pop top. It also comes with a twin hob burner and small sink combo smev unit. The rock and roll bed works well and the upholstery is very good, stitched in a very cool retro vinyl material.
From the 1st of April 2018 vehicles over 40 years old are now exempt from an MOT, Which Calypso fall in. She still has a current Mot until July 2018 but will not require a new mot due to the new mot rules.
She is also tax exempt, so she has very low yearly costs to boot!
The body is very good with only a couple of small marks and a couple of bubbles under the engine lid. The underneath is excellent and rust free! Unlike a lot of these little beauties!
The suns out, she’s ready to roll, are you?
