Arriving December 2026Honda Gorilla Z50J 88cc Custom
1984 Honda Gorilla Z50J 88cc Custom for Sale
Japanese import | Wide wheels | Honda engine
That’s Classic is pleased to offer this distinctive Honda Gorilla Z50J 88cc custom, sourced directly from Japan. Built around a genuine Honda Z50J frame, it combines classic minibike proportions with an upgraded Honda engine, wide 10-inch wheels and a striking Japanese custom appearance.
The metallic silver tank, black tuck-and-roll seat, polished alloy components and yellow headlamp give this Gorilla plenty of character. Its extended swing arm and broad rear wheel create a purposeful stance while retaining the compact silhouette that makes these little Hondas so appealing.
Small bike, big personality
The Gorilla belongs to Honda’s much-loved Monkey bike family, with a larger tank and its own distinctive styling. These compact Hondas offer an appealing starting point for custom builds, and this example shows just how much individuality can be packed into a small motorcycle.
It would make an interesting addition to a Japanese motorcycle collection or appeal to someone looking for a classic Honda minibike with a more individual specification.
88cc conversion and Japanese aftermarket components
According to the supplied Japanese specification, this example uses a Honda CF50E engine fitted with a Shift Up 88cc conversion and a four-speed rotary gearbox.
The build also includes components from Kitaco, G-Craft, KOSO and KEPSPEED, with upgrades covering the intake, ignition, instrumentation and running gear.
Key features include:
- Genuine Honda Z50J frame, identified as belonging to the 1984 range
- Honda CF50E four-stroke engine with Shift Up 88cc conversion
- Four-speed rotary gearbox
- KEPSPEED 10-inch wheels, 4J front and 5.5J rear
- Extended KEPSPEED wide swingarm and offset front sprocket kit
- 27mm front forks and OKD twin rear shocks
- G-Craft inlet manifold and Kitaco air cleaner
- Kitaco ignition coil
- Aftermarket speedometer and KOSO oil-temperature gauge
- Front and rear drum brakes
- Black tuck-and-roll seat and yellow headlamp
Condition and mileage
The bike presents attractively in the Japanese photographs, with a cohesive custom appearance and some visible age-related wear.
The Japanese seller reported easy starting and clean revving once warm, with no serious abnormal engine noise, white smoke or notable oil leakage. The visible interior of the fuel tank was described as clean, and both supplied keys were reported to operate.
The aftermarket odometer displays 3,625 km. This is a displayed reading only which was reset after rebuild and does not establish the motorcycle’s total mileage.
As a modified motorcycle built around a 1980s frame, it should be appreciated as an individual custom build, with age-related marks and wear, rather than a factory-original example.
